Ornament Thursday - it's academic!

Academia...

This month's Ornament Thursday's theme is Academia...

And although I promised a new project this month and this is not a new project, I don't think it's one I've shared before.

Last fall some of the girls took a trip down to Chatham for a girls weekend. As always with these weekends each girl is asked to do "something," (may be a game, may be a project, etc.)

Kristin took on the task of a gift for my aunt (the homeowner who generously allows us to use her home for our scrapping weekends,) and she also made a little something for each of us.

Based on the graduated word albums, (a la Bo Bunny) Kristin made each of us our own personalized book using the Silhouette. (We made Patti a "FAMILY" one using photos we found around her home.) She then bound them with the Zutter Bind-it-All.

My choice was "SCHOOL" as Addie had just started kindergarten, and I used the book to document her first day...

The multitude of materials I used on this are too many to pinpoint, but a mention to:

Bazzill Basics Paper
7 Gypsies stickers
EK Success stamps
Ranger inks
Pebbles, Inc. embellishments

And a little bonus project for Academia, also made last year... I took a black frame and some patterned papers, stamped in Ranger Distress Ink "First Day." With a black cardstock mat, some black photo corners and an apple stick pin, I created a frame I can use every year for Addie's first day of school photo. The red cardstock is printed on the computer, and just slides behind the pin, no adhesive so it can be changed each year. This year is patiently awaits the first day of first grade, which is next Wednesday. (Never did get the kindergarten picture in there.)

I was pretty melancholy about the first day of kindergarten, so if I knew you last year, and you had a child entering kindergarten, I probably made one for you, too. Lucky you!

And you'll be lucky, too, if you go check out what the other Ornament Thursday girls have been working on...
