Oh Mother... OT strikes again!

A fabulous tribute to moms this month...

My sister's a new mom... next month is Mother's Day... perfect time for a sweet, sentimental project about moms...

Not!

Some of the girls may have sentimental and sweet creations about motherhood, but I chose a different route...

Mommy-isms!

While some of the girls and I were up at the KISS convention someone (Melissa?) purchased these adorable Daisy D's rub ons called Mommy-isms. Then, one by one, many of us went and purchased these very same rub ons. Because, come on... who hasn't said at least one thing on this list? Huh?

Go ask your dad.
Don't make me come in there!
Go play outside. It's a beautiful day.
Why on Earth did you do that?
Don't run in the house.
Life isn't fair.
I don't know is not an answer.
Say your sorry and act like you mean it.
You should know better.

This was my perfect spring board for this cute little pocket album I made using chipboard, patterned papers, foil tape and the above mentioned rub ons!

I'm going to post a tutorial below on how to make the book, but first a walk through my world of Mommy-isms!

"Oh! The Guilt!
Someday when you have kids you'll understand.
You will understand that you will never love anyone quite the same."

"Answer me.
You never seem to be at a loss for words.
That is until I need an answer... QUICK!"
How cute is that photo of her face?

"Did you brush your teeth?
(and wash your hands?
And close the door?
And flush?"
That's Liam licking the frosting spoon!

"Because I said so...
I really did not think I would ever say this!
{And... DON'T TALK BACK!}

"I don't care who started it... stop it now!
Quiet down!
Be nice!
Cut it out!
Knock it off!"

"Look at me when I'm talking to you."
I have SO many photos of the back of Liam's head!

"The Good Stuff
The Hard Stuff
The Rewarding Stuff
The CRAZY Stuff
Our house is a little crazy
but so are we!"

"Confessions of my Heart
The truth is... I love you two more than anything in the whole wide world... I confess to using crazy Mommy-isms from time to time, but my love for you is a TRU-ISM!"

And without further ado... how about making one of these of your own?

Materials needed:
chipboard
patterned paper (in this case I used a package I bought at Dollar Tree!)
rub ons (I used Daisy D's Mommy-isms!)
ball chain
foil tape (I used Ranger Memory Foil Tape in silver)
marker (I used a Sharpie)
journaling pens (I used American Crafts and Sakura)
die cuts (I used Daisy D's)
buttons (I used Junkitz)
decorative brad (mine is Making Memories)
black ink pad (I used Ranger's Black Soot Distress Ink)

Tools needed:
hole punch

  1. cut 5 pieces of chipboard 4" x 3"
  2. cut 10 pieces of patterned paper the same size as the chipboard
  3. adhere paper to chipboard
  4. ink all edges of the pages black
  5. ink any die cuts you wish to use and adhere to pages (cut off remainder not used)
  6. wrap foil tape around each chipboard piece
  7. trace all foil with black Sharpie marker

Front cover:
  1. add rub ons - Mommy-isms and "stuff you said and didn't mean... and others you did"

Page one:
  1. Apply rub on (note: with the Daisy D's ones, the rub on will have to be cut in half)
  2. Ink the edges of the die cut, adhere
  3. Journal

Page two:
  1. apply rub on (again, rub on in this case was cut in half)
  2. adhere photo
  3. adhere button
  4. journal

Page three:
  1. adhere rub on (cutting if necessary)
  2. adhere photo
  3. journal

Page four:
  1. adhere rub on
  2. adhere photo
  3. adhere button
  4. journal
*edited to include remainder of instructions and links...*

Page five:
  1. apply rub on (will need to be cut)
  2. apply photo
  3. journal
Page six:
  1. apply rub on
  2. snip backing off of brad, adhere with a glue dot
  3. adhere photos

Page seven:
  1. ink and adhere tag
  2. journal
  3. adhere photo
  4. adhere button
Page eight:
  1. ink die cut and adhere
  2. adhere photo
  3. journal
Next step:

  • stack all pages on top of eachother
  • punch hole through all pages (Cropodile works best)
  • feed ball chain through to bind booklet
And now, without further ado... go see what the fab OT ladies have done for Motherhood!

pwah---I saw the KISS convention and for a minute I really thought...KISS, the band? Michelle doesn't seem like a KISS fan and then I rolled the mouse over!
